Hisab Kitab · Made in India
Smart expense management, made for India
Track every rupee you spend, split shared bills with friends, set monthly budgets, and settle up over UPI. One app, free forever, no ads.
The problem
- •Most "money manager" apps are built for the US — dollar defaults, no UPI, no Indian merchant categories.
- •Spreadsheets are great until the month ends — then nobody fills them in.
- •Bank apps show transactions but can't split a dinner with four friends.
- •Splitwise handles splitting but not personal spending; you end up with two apps.

FAQs
What makes it smart?
Auto-categorisation picks the right bucket for 85%+ of Indian expenses out of the box. Budgets alert you before you overshoot. Group splits auto-balance. Settlement opens UPI with the amount already filled in.
Does it connect to my bank?
Not automatically — Indian bank APIs for personal transaction feeds don't exist outside Account Aggregator (which is for lending). The practical alternative: forward bank SMS alerts to your personal Inbox URL — Hisab Kitab parses them into pending expenses you approve with one tap. (On our roadmap, not shipped yet in your current build.)
Will it work without internet?
Yes. It's a Progressive Web App — the shell caches locally and expenses added offline queue up and sync when you're back online.
How is this different from Walnut, Money View, or Jupiter?
Walnut and Money View focus on reading your bank SMS; Jupiter is a neobank. Hisab Kitab doesn't need SMS access or a bank account — you log expenses as they happen, which is more accurate than SMS parsing. We also handle friends/groups, which the SMS-based apps don't.
Is it really free, including splits with friends?
Yes. No Pro tier, no limits on friends, groups, or expenses. If we ever add paid features for teams/businesses, personal + friends + groups stays free for everyone currently signed up.
