Does Hisab Kitab work outside India?
You can use it from anywhere, but the currency is locked to INR and localisations (UPI, bank SMS parsing, Indian merchant categories) are India-first. Multi-currency support is on the roadmap.
What happens when I settle up with a friend?
Hisab Kitab records the settlement in-app and, if the recipient has saved their UPI ID, hands you a one-tap UPI link that opens your UPI app (GPay / PhonePe / Paytm / your bank). The actual money transfer happens inside UPI, same as any P2P transfer. Hisab Kitab is not a payment service.
