How to Install Hisab Kitab as an App on Android & iPhone

Hisab Kitab is a PWA — Progressive Web App. That means it lives in your browser but can install to your home screen and behave like a native app: offline access, push notifications, full-screen. Here's how to install it on each platform.

Android (Chrome)

1. Open hisabkitab.space in Chrome.
2. Sign in.
3. Chrome usually shows a banner at the bottom saying 'Add Hisab Kitab to Home screen'. Tap it.
4. If you missed the banner: tap the three-dot menu → 'Install app' or 'Add to Home screen'.
5. Confirm. The Hisab Kitab icon appears on your home screen and opens like a native app.

iPhone (Safari)

1. Open hisabkitab.space in Safari (not Chrome — Chrome on iOS is a Safari wrapper and doesn't install PWAs the same way).
2. Sign in.
3. Tap the Share button (square with an up arrow) in the bottom bar.
4. Scroll and tap 'Add to Home Screen'.
5. Confirm the name and tap 'Add'. The icon appears on your home screen and opens full-screen.

Enabling push notifications

After installing, open the app from your home screen and go to Settings → Notifications. Grant permission when your browser asks. You'll get pinged when someone adds an expense to a group you're in or requests a settle-up.

Troubleshooting

If 'Add to Home Screen' doesn't appear on iPhone, you're probably in Chrome or another browser. Switch to Safari — this is an iOS limitation, not ours.

If you don't see the install banner on Android, refresh the page after signing in, or use the three-dot menu manually.
